Adaptive Leadership.
Perth Agility Circle 2020
THE EVENT
The 2020 PAC event explored what it means to lead adaptively in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world. Rather than relying on rigid playbooks, adaptive leadership is about awareness, action and the mindset shifts that enable leaders to navigate complexity with clarity and purpose.
Pat Reed, a global authority on business agility with over 40 years’ experience, drew on her background as an executive at Disney, Universal, Gap Inc. and her extensive advisory work across industries to share powerful lessons on adaptive leadership. Her session highlighted how courage, growth mindset, systems thinking, and “both/and” polarity management are critical to transforming VUCA into clarity, resilience and opportunity.
Guests explored the importance of self-awareness, sensemaking and managing “wicked problems” with new ways of thinking. The message was clear: without the right leadership mindset, transformation fails to deliver benefits — but with it, organisations can unlock sustainable value and thrive in uncertainty.
